COUNSELLING
How it works
Do I really need help? Shall I call? Am I being dramatic? Will I sound silly saying it out loud?
I understand the extra anxieties caused by these thoughts running around in your head right now, but you are courageous for even being on this site.
The hardest step – accessing help.
The first step is a telephone consultation. Here you can express the difficulties you would like to address. Then together we can look at moving forward with therapy to meet your individual need.
This stage is informal and gives you the chance to discuss concerns or any questions you may have about therapy. This does not commit you to moving forward with therapy but gives you a chance to take that first admirable step of seeking support to see if it is right for you.
This consultation is free and confidential.
Following the initial consultation the usual arrangement for therapy is weekly sessions. This is, however, not a rule and sessions can be tailored to your schedule. No more than one session a week is advised so that you have time in between sessions to reflect on what the sessions have uncovered for you and you may well have activities to carry out in your own time to help the process.
There is no fixed number of sessions. Again, this is purely down to your needs. The number of sessions will be discussed, agreed together and reviewed throughout the journey. The sessions do not have to end if your needs, commitments or schedule changes. Sessions can be bi-weekly if needed, and if clear progress is being made monthly sessions are also an option.

Testimonials
“it was like a life belt had been placed around me in very deep water. Initially I felt like I was drowning. By the end of my sessions I was in the boat and safe.
My counsellor was kind, gentle, understanding, professional. She helped me understand that weakness is not something to be ashamed of. She helped me see things differently. ”
“I realised I had issues that previously lay dormant but then surfaced during a stressful time. I found the counselling service to be professional and helped me get to see my issues in perspective, and understood, rather than being a hidden threat. I have been able to share all manner of related issues in perfect confidentiality . Asha has always had a Sharp focus and logical approach, and at times been one step ahead of me. There was nothing to fear in these sessions and we always arrived at a positive conclusion at the end of each session ”
